drubbed in Texas- Houston 3 TFC 0

That was beyond awful. It was as if TFC fans and players were united in the worst way. We were having our faces rubbed in it. Dare I say our limitations are greater than our dreams. At least that is true tonight in Texas.
Sure it is possible that the team came out flat. It is also possible that the team saw the Vancouver game coming up on Tuesday as a much more important one and therefore pulled back (rested Dichio, subbed Robinson as a precaution).
It also possible that Houston is truly that much better than TFC. Houston demonstrated a scoring touch and a killer instinct on free kicks that TFC only dreams about. The Dynamo scored three goals in a flurry and were never even slightly worried after that.
If anyone brings up the weather I will start to scream. Sure it was hot, but it's going to get hot and hotter all over the continent. It's called summer. If TFC cannot compete during the hot months you can kiss the playoffs goodbye.

One positive I can think of is just a negative in disguise. Adrian Serioux was mistreated in the first half by the ref at both ends of the field. The defensive calls were of the phantom variety and then Serioux had a goal disallowed in the dying seconds of the half. At half time I was betting on a second Serioux yellow ahead of a TFC goal...at least Serioux stayed in the game.
Despite allowing three goals, Frei did make that toe save and kept Houston off the scoreboard in the second half. If he had melted it could have been so much worse. I guess that counts as another in the positive as negative in disguise category.

I think giving Vitti and Ricketts the second half was wise. This was their (last?) chance to show some offensive spark. Neither caught fire, but then Wynne and Barrett had already set the bar pretty low. Changes just have to be made.

May the game against the Whitecaps on Tuesday be a completely different story.

absolutely...but Wynn as a striker, thats as far fetched as Barrett as a striker...We do not have any stikers only a few good midfielders...and our idea of possesion is kick the ball up the field and hope...

I agree the weather is a poor excuse, after all Guevara is from Honduras and Dero played in Houston for years.I think that was the last chance for Ricketts.I hope they trade him for some help at the Striker position.

Hey Anonymous !! (Section 220 and others) So true. Wynne as an attacker - well he works as a surprise attacker, an overlap, but he does not have the ball control or the crossing or the presence in the air or the shot. Rare though it may be, at least Barrett has a shot.
I still think Chad Barrett is a long term project, hey it is the MLS and the roster must contain some American players. There isn't a team out there with a better American striker that's going to trade that guy for RIcketts and/or Barrett or any TFC excess.
Now Ricketts for a draft choice would free up a second roster space and then the long awaited international signings could come in...

This team is better than last year, deeper bench strength and a strong midfield. I think TFC will make the Playoffs, but to win it all we need a natural goal scorer. But I don't think the MLSE (ownership) are in any hurry to spend the money required to bring in a quality guy.I guess we'll see when the summer transfer window opens if management intends to make any changes. In the meantime TFC has a chance to win its first trophy on Tuesday. "Come on you Reds" lets win the Nutrilite Championship.
